In the middle of VM, near the top, find the text that says VM VAIO.Otherwise I'd have everything but my Mic set to A1.
Game chat and VoiceMod Monitor are set to A2 because on my headset it can be controlled seperately from the main audio. Mic, Browsers, Game Chat (I utilize multiple Virtual Audio Cables), and VoiceMod Monitor. The other Hardware Inputs are purely on a case by case basis. Then in VM click the small white text and change it to the Virtual Audio Cable.ĥb. After it's set you don't have to touch it again. This can only be done when there is audio playing from that browser so your PC can 'hear' it. You should (either using EarTrumpet or Windows Sound) route your Browser of choice to the Virtual Audio Cable. Hardware Input 2 - change name to Browser.De-select the A1-A? under Hardware Input 1 - now set to and named Mic. Don't mess with the EQ or noise gates in VM unless you never intend to properly balance your mic with Equalizer APO (takes 15-20 minutes). Then click the small white text under and pick the actual microphone you are using. Click on Hardware Input 1 and change the name to Microphone.Set A2 if you have a secondary audio out (my headphones have a second audio out for chat).Set A1 to your Main audio out (headphones).Click on the Menu in VM and make sure you have System Tray and Auto Restart Audio Engine checked.In case you don't get to the video and need a quick solution before your next project or stream: ( VM: VoiceMeeter, EQ: Equalizer) It seems like you already have the Virtual Audio Cable installed. He has, hands down, the best videos I've found on how to set it up. Search TheFranswahStudio ( here you go!) on YouTube. they'd probably get a lot more users/sales if they polished up the interface and made it more user friendly.

It takes a bit of trial and error to get it all figured out. I set a single audio input in OBS (VAIO3) for my entire mix coming from VoiceMeeter. In my setup I use A1 for my headphones, A2 for my speakers, and VAIO3 Output (B3) for my OBS mix. You route each input to what output you want them going to (A1-5, B1-3) using the buttons next to the gain slider. All the Inputs are put in on the LEFT side of VM. Potato has 3 Virtual inputs (VAIO, VAIO AUX, and VAIO3) built in, then more by way of virtual cables if you need them. (Settings>System>Sound>App Volume and Device Preferences) to set particular programs to whatever virtual input/cable you want to use.

VoiceMeeter really needs to be used in conjunction with Windows 10 Audio Routing as well. Now you said when your mic is off, you still hear yourself in the headset? Do you have another mic someplace picking you up? Maybe from a webcam or something? If that is the case, don't set your other mic as an input in VoiceMeeter. I found that a bit frustrating when I was figuring it all out. A lot of the Youtube tutorials are very specific to that users setup, and they tell you "This is how you have to do it".
